Star Anise is an evergreen tree native to Vietnam and China, a spice commonly used in cooking, perfumery, soaps, mouthwashes and skin creams. Some strains of Star Anise are toxic and not used for consumption, such as the Japanese and USA due modifications.
Described as a sweet and licorice and staple in Chinese and Indian cuisine. Star anise is rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and C, it also helps improve digestion, alleviate cramps and reduce nausea.
The oil produced from star anise contains thymol, terpineol and anethole which is used for treating cough and flu. Star anise contains anethole which is quite effective in detoxifying the skin, this ingredient contains many medicinal compounds. This ingredient is highly versatile, and full of flavour and there many uses for this small yet powerful spice.
We use Star Anise fruit oil in our Morning Glory as it helps with fighting fungal, a natural flu fighter, kills bacteria and rich in antioxidants for the skin.
