Vegan Skinfood | Our Ingredients List

Going clean with your body care can take time. It's important to read and learn about the various superfood ingredients and what they can do for your body.

It's also important to note that your skin changes, along with you. Season, weather, food, relationships, work, exercise and hormones can all affect your body.

Below we share some of our top choices and why we LOVE incorporating them into our body care products. All of these ingredients are 100% Vegan, Superfood, what we call SkinFood.

Here are some tips for figuring out what vegan skin care will work best for you:

Label Reading. If you are new to vegan ingredients, begin by reading labels of products you already like. The last time you used something which was amazing, what was in the bottle?

The principle in manufacturing labels is: the ingredients are listed in the order of greatest quantity to least quantity. For example, a bottle of apple juice may say Water, Apple Juice Concentrate, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). This means that Water is in the largest quantity, and Ascorbic Acid is in the smallest quantity. 

If your old bottles don’t list any natural ingredients, look up definitions for words like Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), or Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber). This narrows down your search to Vitamin C and Cucumber. From there on, you can choose products which have similar vegan ingredients, like our Tangerine Peel products with Vitamin C, or our Aloe Vera products, which offer a cooling sensation like cucumber.

Observe. When testing skincare, if possible, test it on the same day each month. If you are a woman with a regular menstrual cycle, the balance of hormones in your body is expressed in your skin. Testing a new product during your period, will typically result in inconsistent results, because skin is more likely to be irritated during menstruation. Test a product on your body at the same time each month, to get accurate information.

Ask Your Family. We often inherit some characteristics from our parents or relatives. Searching for clues in family history will reveal interesting similarities. For example, many who have sought to solve acne-prone skin issues, have found great tips from asking mothers and fathers, uncles and aunts. Since acne often clears up with age, it is likely that you never knew someone else in your family had the problem too!. You may even find out how your skin will change in the next decade, when you enter new stages of your life.

Aloe Vera

Chia Seed

A warming spice which boosts blood flow to the skin surface. Helps remove dead skin cells. Anti-fungal, anti-oxidizing, and anti-bacterial. Helpful for acne, blemishes, eczema. Read our Cinnamon Body Care Ingredient Story.

Cocoa Butter

Rich, non-greasy fat from the cocoa bean. Useful during and after pregnancy to reduce stretch marks. Fantastic for winter and dry climates. Long-lasting, deep hydration and protection. Cocoa Butter Ingredient Story.


Aromatic oil from the coconut fruit. Super nutritious, fights dryness, flakiness, and neutralizes toxins. Has a lighter, softer absorption feel than Shea and Cocoa butter. Good for skin that needs nourishment but prefers less richness. Read More why Coconut is a vegan superfood.

Shea Butter 

Rich, non-oily fat from the Shea tree. Keeps skin plump and moisturized. Alleviates irritation, tightness, and itching. Re-hydrates and protects dry skin excellently. Great for dry or winter climates. See Shea Butter Skinfood Ingredient Story.

Star Anise

Fragrant spice with anti-fungal properties. Bright scent, used in our soap to cleanse deeply but gently. See Ingredient Story. 

Tangerine Peel

Calendula -
